    • Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  Students in the Read Strategies will complete a Reading Inventory test in order  to get their reading Lexiles.  We  will begin testing our students the second week of September.  Once we get students Lexile this will determine the placement in either the Read 180 or System 44 program. Parents will receive notification of Lexile numbers and placement.

    • SRI Dates  September 11

These programs are designed to help students in grades 4 and above make quantifiable gains in reading achievement.  Each day the students rotate through 3 stations:

      • teacher-directed instruction in whole and small group
      • technology-based instruction on 180 or 44 program
      • modeled and independent reading with audio and paperback libraries.

I hope that you find the information on this page helpful.  You may contact me by email at or by phone at 832-386-2178.  My conference times are 2nd  period  9:35-11:00am

During the month of September we will begin Workshop#1 The New Americans.  The students will begin working in their rBook during small group instructions.  During Independent Reading your child will be required to take at least 3 (or more) 180 Library tests per nine weeks.

      • Workshop #2/When Disaster Strikes

The students are enjoying the high-interest level topics found in the computer program and in the Read 180 library books. All students have accomplished the goal of rotating through the 3 classroom centers. The work the students complete in these centers will enable them to acquire a higher lexile number when we retest.  Our goal is to increase lexile numbers equivalent to sixth grade.

During the month of December we will wrap-up Workshop 1/the New Americans and begin work in  Workshop #2 /When Disaster Strikes.  In this workshop we will read 3 nonfiction topics:  Lightning, Fires and Hurricanes. Students will write a personal narrative about  a time when they experienced a natural disaster.

    •  February/ March we will begin Workshop #3 Identity Crisis We will also work on test taking strategies for up coming test
